Although this is not a Lonely Planet sort of book with lots of logistical information, I found it very well done in terms of summarizing a complex history. It's well written, by teams of knowledgeable people, and provides more depth than your typical guidebook. I can really appreciate that, because most guidebooks really gloss over the history to make places sound idyllic and ready-to-be-consumed without any commitment to understanding the place. Therefore, I think it is a great complement to a more logistical guidebook for people who want to know more than where the best beach is. It has lots of nice photos, too.
